Full credit for this recipe goes to Bon Appétit magazine. This recipe appeared in their December 2006 issue. I’ve been making it ever since. The wording is theirs.

To make the Margarita base for 12 drinks blend

1 1/4 cup premium tequila
1 1/4 cups frozen cranberry juice concentrate, thawed
1 cup canned jellied cranberry sauce
1/2 plus 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (this is 10 tablespoons total)
6 tablespoons orange liqueur such as Grand Marnier

In a blender until smooth. Pour out half of Margarita base into a glass measuring bowl. Set aside. To the other half add 3 1/2 cups ice cubes and blend until it’s slushy; pour into salt-rimmed Margarita glasses. Garnish with cranberries.

Pour second half of Margarita mixture back into blender and repeat process, adding another 3 1/2 cups ice cubes.

Note 1: I’ve been unable (although, I haven’t looked super hard) to find the original post of this recipe in the Bon Appétit magazine. The closest I got was seeing that it was on page 147 of the December 2006 issue in this archived index.

Note 2: There are now many cranberry margarita recipes that can be found online. This just happens to be my favorite. Your mileage may vary. Cheers!
