APT16: Gin & Tonic Cranberry Sauce
*DISCLAIMER* I haven’t made this in a while. I did my best to remember how I’ve made this in the past. You may need to tweak some ingredients or steps. Good luck and enjoy!
Using the official Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce Recipe as a guide:
1 12-oz bag of fresh cranberries
1 cup of granulated white sugar
1/2 cup of tonic (I prefer Fever-Tree)
1/2 cup of gin (I prefer Philadelphia-made Bluecoat Gin)
1 fresh lime
Follow the Ocean Spray directions for cooking. While this concoction boils, I add fresh lime zest to it and some squeezes of fresh lime juice. Mostly, the fresh lime zest.
I’ve found that boiling it for slightly longer than the directions call for will compensate for the alcohol in the mix. (Normally this recipe calls for one cup of water.) Keep in mind that this won’t look like a can of cranberry sauce, it will be looser. But, the longer you boil it — without burning — then putting into the refrigerator will firm it up.
Happy #Ginfosec Thanksgiving!
